Mark Your Calendars! May 8, 2012 – U.S. Student Fulbright Grant Workshop
Upcoming U.S. Student Fulbright Grant Workshop
Please join us for a Fulbright U.S. Student Program workshop on Tuesday, May 8th, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in International Commons, 1117 UCC, announcing the official opening of this year’s competition. Fulbright grants support a multitude of international possibilities, including research, graduate study, and teaching English. We will discuss the details of the upcoming 2013-14 competition, including this year’s countries and programs offered. Given that this workshop will open this year’s cycle, we will present information that was not covered during the March 28th workshop, so all interested students should attend. This event is open to all students, including undergraduate, graduate and professional students, and alumni.
The workshop will feature specific details of UI campus application processes for both B.A.s and graduate students, with UI Fulbright advisors Karen Wachsmuth (International Programs) and Kelly Thornburg (Honors Program); UI Fulbright 2011-12 grantee Luke Juran, who will share his tips on the application process, including: 1) writing a successful proposal, 2) securing affiliations, 3) language preparation, and 4) IRB human subjects issues; and International Programs Language Initiatives Manager Elena Osinskaya, who will discuss ways to learn less-commonly-taught languages through the Autonomous Language Learning Network (ALLNet) Service.
There will be time for individual student questions toward the end of the session.
